CERT STEERING COMMITTEE

Kirkland’s CERT program is guided by the Steering Committee, a group of dedicated volunteer leaders who support CERT classes, develop neighborhood CERT teams, share the preparedness message with community, and coordinate ongoing trainings.

Christina Brugman

CHRISTINA BRUGMAN

Christina Brugman coordinates the CERT program for the City of Kirkland and leads the CERT Steering Committee.  She is also one of several CERT instructors and serves as President of the Greater Kirkland Citizen Corps Council.  A Seattle native, she has had varied careers as a teacher, medical assistant, and minister.  Now retired, she spends her time volunteering for CERT, and as a Healing Touch Practitioner at Overlake Hospital.  Christina enjoys quilting and needlework, gardening, and reading.  Her family consists of her husband, Barry (an avid birder), two grown children, and two lovely cats.

 

Jennifer Mahan

JENNIFER MAHAN

Jennifer Mahan coordinates public outreach efforts for the City of Kirkland Office of Emergency Management.  She is a member of the CERT Steering Committee and CERT Instructor Team.  Jen holds a Technician Class amateur radio license and is a member of the Kirkland Emergency Communications Team.  She also volunteers with Lake Washington School District as co-chairperson of the PTSA Emergency Preparedness Committee and is a member of the Safety Advisory Committee.  In her free time, Jen enjoys reading and spending time with her husband and two school-aged children.

 

 

STEVE BENNETT

Steve Bennett volunteers in the Kirkland community with CERT, Friends of the Library of Kirkland (FOLK), and Thoreau Elementary Watchdogs. A Kirkland native, he attended Finn Hill Jr. High and Juanita High School, and currently works at Microsoft. Steve enjoys boating, video games, reading, travel, movies, and spending time with his wife Tammy, children, and grandchildren who all live in the area.

 

 

 

TODD BANCROFT

Todd Bancroft volunteers in the Kirkland community as an EMT, a CERT instructor, and an at-large member of the Kirkland CERT Steering Committee. He is a man tracker with the Alderwood Unit of Snohomish County Volunteer Search and Rescue. Todd is a 20 year retired veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard.  He is also a volunteer member of the Medical Reserve Corps.  Todd holds an amateur radio operator’s license; his call sign is KF7WBU.

 

 

JANICE CHRISTIAN

Janice Christian is a volunteer CERT instructor and an at-large member of the Kirkland CERT Steering Committee.  She volunteers as Secretary of both the Operations and Tracking teams for Snohomish County Volunteer Search and Rescue.  She also assists the K9 team with training.  Janice is a member of the Medical Reserve Corps, a national network of local groups of volunteers committed to improving the public health, emergency response, and resiliency of their communities.

 

KELLY PRICE

Kelley was one of the few who was actually born in Seattle, at the now defunct Doctor's Hospital!  A lifelong native of both Eastern & Western Washington with the exception of ten years spent following a military spouse to the East coast and Europe.  Since returning to the area in 1997 she has lived in Kirkland.  Kelley is a CERT, and also a graduate of the Kirkland Citizen's Police Academy.  She is the Human Resources Manager for a software company in Bellevue and stays very busy with hobbies including motorcycle riding, scuba diving, cooking, spending time with friends, and husband Gene and Maggie the Wonderdog.
