Registration is now open for Kirkland’s eight-class-long Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training program!

WHEN
The program meets once a week on Wednesdays from 6:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. 

Class dates are: 9/17, 9/24, 10/1, 10/8, 10/15, 10/22, 10/29, and 11/5. 

The full-scale disaster simulation drill is on Sunday, 11/16 in the afternoon.  The exact time is to be announced. 

You must commit to attending all 8 classes and the final drill when you register.  The lessons in the course are cumulative and attendance is required.  A graduation ceremony will be held during a City Council meeting at City Hall on Tuesday November 18 at 7:00pm.

Classes will be held at Northshore Baptist Church.

COST
Registration is $35 for Kirkland residents; $50 for non-residents. The fee includes a learning manual, hardhat, vest, backpack and emergency supplies.  Payment should be made as soon as possible after registering, a spot is not guaranteed in the class until payment is received. 

REFUND POLICY
Full refund for cancellations on or before September 1, 2014.
No refunds for cancellations September 2, 2014 and later.  To be fair to all this policy is strictly enforced, no exceptions.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Community Emergency Response Training is a hands-on course taught by an instructing team of EMTs, Kirkland firefighters, and trained citizen CERT instructors. Participants will learn how to support their neighborhoods and community by preparing for and responding to catastrophic disasters when first responders who provide fire and medical services will be overwhelmed.  Personal preparedness, quick decision making skills, and rescuer safety are also emphasized. 

CLASS TOPICS
Classes include instruction in personal preparedness, disaster medical operations, fire suppression, light search and rescue operations, disaster psychology, recognizing potential acts of terrorism, and team organization.
